First UFO for 2012 Finished!! Yea!!!

I finished my January UFO!!! Classic Santas from a BOM I did several years ago. The santas are all hand appliqued and embellished with beads, sequins, embroidery and other little trinkets I found along the way. I am so proud that I got this done. I will be even prouder once I have it all quilted and bound.

This is my wonderful memory quilt made from blocks sent to me by my friends with QuiltedAngels internet group when my mama passed away. I'm not sure why I chose the black print borders other than it I thought it show cased the blocks. It trully is a work of love.

It has been a very blessed year for us. I thank the awesome God I serve for it all. He has helped me through the mourning of the loss of my beloved mama. She was my heart. Still is.....

I have managed to finish 10 UFOs! I'm happy with that. Now I look forward to finishing 12 this coming year. I signed up again with Patchwork Times. It's Judy Laquideras website. This quilt is for my niece Stephanie in California.

I ran out of transfer sheets so I had to come up with 2 more blocks so I made the music notes you see in the bottom corners.

This is a close up of the quilt. I have music notes quilted in the corners and swirls in all the borders. I was very pleased with the end results.

Here is a cute pillow I embroidered and added red rhinstones for the little flowers. It has 2" borders on the top and bottom and big red rick rack goes all around the pillow. I just love this snow couple!

It is made from "Card Tricks" blocks but I turned them on point and they took on a totally different look!

I finished this wall hanging 9/30/10. The blocks are from a block swap hosted by my friend PJ Oliver last year. I added 2 blocks to make it complete. The top left hand corner is a "snowman collector" embroidered block by my friend Sue from Illinois and the bottom right hand block is just an extra block I had laying around. This is a special wall hanging to me because the ladies that made the blocks are very special to me.

This only calls for a 1/2 yd of fabric but I lined it so I used a whole yard! Big deal huh? Most of us have hundreds of yards of fabric in our collection! Betty Boop is one of the fabric collections I have and she always makes my heart feel warm and fuzzy. I watched her and Pudgey (her puppy) over and over as a child. Anyway see what you think!

Starting my cute little Schnibbles quilt! This is a fun little project and there are so many to choose from! That was the hard part. Maybe I will just have to make all of them! I used 2 charm square packages, Recess by Moda and A Breath of Avignon also by Moda and a white on white moda fabric.

In Memory of my precious friend, Viva Marie Pratt. 11/16/1918 - 05/14/2010

91 years young and still quilting! This is one of the many quilts she made. She was a treasure to know. Never an unkind word about anyone or to anyone. She was loved by everyone that she came in contact with and was a great influence in my personal and spiritual life. She loved her family and friends but above all else, she loved the Lord and lived to do His will. The next time she opens her eyes it will be to see the Lord and hear His voice calling her to wake up and come & inherit the kingdom. Rest in peace my beloved friend.

It's been a while!

It has been a while since I posted. Been busy quilting and retreating in Texas. A few of us gathered for a quilting retreat in Quitman Texas. The bunkhouse is owned and operated by Stitchin Heaven in Quitman. It is a beautiful place that sleeps up to 16 people. Has 3 full baths, a very nicely equiped kitchen and even a washroom! A huge room set up with tables and ironing boards. We all had a ball!

My favorite Christmas Memory

It's hard to single out one Christmas memory because I have so many. My mom made sure of that even when there was very little money. She raised 6 of us on her own. And when I had my own family I made sure we created our own memories.

Probably the one that stands out in my mind was the last Christmas I spent with my 3 grown sons and their tiny (at that time) families and our best friends Ron and Merriel. It was the Christmas before we moved to Arkansas. We were all gathered round the tree and distributing the gifts. My second son, Dave gave me a beautifully wrapped gift and when I opened it, it contained the most beautiful portrait of my 3 sons all decked out in their finest and framed in a very ornate gold frame. I couldn't believe it. What a wonderful thought and surprise. I just cried..........There were no dry eyes in the room except for the babies. I knew it would be our last gathering for a long time.......everyone did.......it's been 19 years and not a Christmas goes by that I don't think about that Christmas. They are forever my "babies".

Broccoli Casserole

10 oz. pkg frozen broccoli, thawed
10 3/4 oz. can cream of chicken soup
10 3/4 oz. can cream of mushroom soup
6 oz. pkg herb-flavored stuffing mix
1/2 C. butter, melted

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place broccoli & soups in a buttered 1 1/2 qt. casserole dish & mix well. Toss the stuffing in a bowl with the butter & bake for 40-45 min.

Easy and great to enjoy!!

I will finish this block for my Circuit Rider quilt. I started this more than a year ago. Actually, I started them when Kansas City Star published them every month. I loved it and just had to make it. I think it will be beautiful when done and I will hand quilt it because it truelly deserves it.
